Universal Life Insurance |
Universal Life Insurance is Flexible Life Insurance.
Universal Life Insurance is sort of like having a savings account with life
insurance protection. You get permanent life insurance protection and access to cash
values that grow at competitive interest rates.
You
see, a portion of your monthly premium goes toward the cost of
insurance protection. Another portion goes toward the cost of administrative
expenses. The remainder goes into a Cash Accumulation Account that
earns monthly interest. An exciting feature of these policies is
the guaranteed minimum interest percentage; regardless
of how low interest rates go at your bank, S & L or credit union,
your cash
account will never earn less than the guaranteed minimum.
Beth
in Sherwood said, "My Universal Life Insurance policy certainly made me smile when interest rates on savings accounts and Certificates
of Deposit slumped. For example, my bank is paying .50% for a regular savings account, .55% for a money market account
and 1.05% for a Certificate of Deposit. My Universal Life Cash Account is growing at 4.75%." |
Universal Life Offers Flexible Protection
You can choose the amount of life insurance protection you want based
on your personal needs. Most Universal Life policies have a minimum amount you must buy. Do you want more life insurance protection
or more of your premium going into your cash account? The choice is yours.
Universal Life Offers Flexible Premiums
You can choose how much premium you want to pay and when you want to
pay it. You can also make lump sum contributions to your Cash Account subject to IRS guidelines. Should you find yourself short of cash,
simply make no premium payment. Each year you will receive a statement that shows a minimum premium payment as well as how long your policy
will remain in force if you don't pay any premiums.
Universal Life Offers Policy Loans
You
can borrow money from your Cash Account for any reason. Most policies will have a stated interest amount for policy loans. You
can pay the loan back on a schedule you choose. It's wise to make your annual interest payments. Should you die with an outstanding
loan, the amount of the loan will be deducted from the proceeds paid to your beneficiary.
