Arkansas Auto Insurance Law
Liability coverage is required by Arkansas Law. Liability coverage pays
for accident claims when you are at fault. The minimum required coverage is $25,000 for Bodily Injury per person, $50,000 per accident,
and $25,000 for Property Damage.
Personalized Motorcycle Insurance
A Harley Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide and
a Honda CRF80F Dirt Bike have different insurance needs. A Ducati 996 Supersport certainly has different insurance
needs than a moped. A youngster getting his or her first bike has different insurance needs from a retired couple touring the United States by bike.
If you read Bill McGhee's biography you know he enjoys his Harley.
After all, he named it Sally. Naming is not the only thing bikers do. And that means a lot of you may need Custom Parts and
Equipment Coverage.
Motorcycle Insurance Coverages
The mandatory Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability Coverage covers your legal liability when you are at fault and the other
party suffers injury or property damage.
Comprehensive and Collision Coverage covers the cost to repair or replace
your motorcycle if it is stolen or damaged in an accident, regardless of who is at fault. You select a deductible for each coverage,
and once the deductible is met, the insurance company pays for the remaining damage.
Your Comprehensive Coverage pays for loss due to events other than collision:
fire, theft, vandalism, etc. Your Collision Coverage pays for damage to your bike when you collide with another vehicle or object.
Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury pays for your injuries if the other
party does not have liability coverage. Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury covers your medical bills if the other party
does not have enough insurance protection to cover you. Uninsured Motorist Property Damage covers your bike if the other
party does not have liability insurance.
Medical Payments Coverage pays the cost of necessary medical care
you receive as a result of a motorcycle accident and can be used regardless of who is at fault. The coverage often is limited to medical treatment
received within the first three years after an accident and is limited to a specific dollar amount.
Custom Parts and Equipment Coverage provides protection for large-scale
customizing you may have done to your bike. Most Comprehensive and Collision policies provide some coverage for CPE in the $1,000
to $3,500 range. CPE coverage can add up to $30,000 coverage for customizations.
Roadside Assistance Coverage comes in handy when you break down
on the road. It may be a dead battery, a flat tire, or some other electrical or mechanical breakdown. This coverage may be included in the Comprehensive
and Collision policies for Harleys and touring bikes at no additional cost, but it can be purchased for most all bikes.
Travel Loss Reimbursement Coverage pays for your meals, lodging
expenses and alternate travel home if your motorcycle breaks down or is damaged over 100 miles from your home. Towing may be included.
