Medicare Advantage Plans and Medigap Insurance
If you have chosen one of the new Medicare Advantage Plans, YOU DO NOT
NEED MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT INSURANCE.
The Original Medicare
The Original Medicare insurance is the one you probably know the most
about. When you enroll in the original Medicare program, you enroll in Part A, which is hospital coverage. You have the option to enroll
in Part B. Generally, you must be enrolled in both Part A and Part B to purchase Medigap Insurance.
The terms Medigap and Medicare Supplement Insurance are identical. They
refer to insurance that FILLS THE GAPS IN MEDICARE COVERAGE.
Our Part A and Part
B charts show the gaps we're talking about. It's what you must pay out of your pocket for deductibles and copayments.
Medicare Supplement Plans
There are no family plans, each spouse must purchase a separate Medigap
policy. Medigap policies are guaranteed renewable for as long as you pay your premiums.
All insurance companies must offer the same standardized plans. You should
know, however, that there are many standardized plans and each has its own plan of coverage. The team at McGhee Insurance Agency is
trained and ready to help you make the right choice for your personal situation.
